Take care of yourself.

How many of us are not living our dreams? What's stopping us? And what does dedicating ourselves to closing the gap between what we wanted for our lives and how we are actually living them have to do with ethics? Eye-rolling

Some of us have no choice but to sell ourselves short. Perhaps we are the main bread winners in households that barely scrape by or, as was the case for a young woman I know, are the only possible carer for a dependant relative. Maybe the needs and wants of our partners or children are incompatible with ours, and must  take precedence in the short or ling term.Tongue out

For others, however the picture is less clear. Research over decades confirms that beyond the level of income needs, additional income does not increase our life satifaction.Thinking  Despite this many of us work longer hours than we want at jobs we despise in the desperate hope that one more purchase will finally deliver the happiness our consumerist culture promises.Red rose

Most of us know that the best way to get the measure of our own lives is to imagine ourselves on our deathbeds looking back at our choices and deeds.Wink

When what we do conflicts with our values,in other words,it is our values that tend to give way,So in the same way that those who wish to believe in God should simply start praying, those who want to keep faith with the life they are living need do little more than continue to live it.Red rose

For what it's worth,I need to say that I don't think it's good enough,No matter OUR AGE,or the things we've said or done in the past, IT IS NEVER TOO LATE TO LIVE THE EXAMINED LIFE.  To remember the DREAMS we had for ourselves the talents we sought to develop, the contribution we wished to make during our lifetimes and to put them into action.
TO SPRINT TOWARDS THE FINISH LINE,BEFORE IT"S TOO LATE.  TO: ALL MY FRIENDS.Red heartLeft hugRight hug

Babies waiting for urgent surgery

BABIES are waiting months for urgent open heart surgery as the Royal Children's Hospita cardiac department HITS CRISIS POINT.Sick
At its worst, some babies have had operations postponed seven times.Sad
The Age show that this year the hospital has averaged 16 cardic surgery cancellationn a week Thirty were canceled in the first 10 days of this month.Angry

The official explanation given for most is the hospital's LACK OF INTENSIVE CARE BEDS,NEEDED TO CARE FO CHILDREN AFTER SURGERY.Disappointed
But the main problems was a LACK OF NURSES to staff the beds, We have the equipment, the facilities the theatre time, and we have fantastic,world-class
surgeons, but we need specialised nurses with intensive-care TRAINING. SnailEmbarrassed

Dominic turned one a week ago Four days after his birth,he was diagnosed with a heart murmur and Fallot's tetralogy, a dangerous condiation in which blood leaks through a hole between two heart chambers, leaving the baby with reduced blood flow through the lungs and tendency to turn blue.Sad
Left untreated,it can lead to difficulty feeding, failure to gain weight, retarded growth and physical development, and EVENTUALLY HEART  FAILURE.Sad
Some surgeons said "he could go on for six month without surgery but the optimum time to have surgery was now"Thinking

One years old Dominic Siber, with mother had five cancellations because of overcrowding at the Royal Children Hospital before his open  surgery. Smile
SCHEDULED TO OPEN IN 2011.the new hospital will be closer to $1 billon but what happents in the means time with BABIES BOOMS?
IT WOULD BE OTHE WAY AROUND THAT THE HOSPITAL BUILT FIRST? Eye-rolling

The Baby boom.

For the past 30 years CHINA'S controversial ONE -CHILD policy has been credited with keeping the country's population at a manageable level by reducing the number of births by an estimated 400 million.
But official's worried about an ageing population and severe gender imbalance because of the traditional preference for SONS,
are considering whether the policy should be scrapped or significantly changed. To restrict family size since the 1970s.The rules vary but usually limit urban families to ONE CHILD,
rural families to TWO and give ethnic minorities a higher allowance.
The system has caused bitterness because rich and corrupt communist party officials, who can afford THE FINES.
The women were being forced to have abortions and sterlisations.
China 's population would grow to 1.5 billion by 2033 with birth rates set to soar over the next five years.

The Australia's fertility rate has been declining since the 1970s and, while it has recently increased,it is still well below replacement levels of 2.1 babies for every woman. In the mid 30-39 started breeding like bunnies, they get the baby bonus$4000 from the Government and many women in Australia already have access to paid maternity leave 14 weeks. funded by their employer.

There was barely a spare crib at St Vincents & Mercy Private Hospital 8-April 2008 after THE EIGHTH set of twins to be born there in a month arrived after lunch.

These stories were bright way but other side stories is not happiest ones...To be continued next Saturday.

That funny feeling

Have you ever made a truly awful decision, and berated yourself later because at some level you actually did know what you were getting into?
Or have you ever quite spontaneously done something that seems to make no sense, only to find that it has rewarded you exceptionally?

We human beings are different from animals in countless ways, but one of the way in which we are at least somewhat similar is that we too are creatures of
instinct.   From the first moments of life we are driven and in many ways protected by a vast rang of instincts, most of which we barely need to acknowledge consiously. However when we think about getting through life and talking the best possible care of ourselves as well as other people,we ignore at our peril those special istincts that are close to intuitions but somehow even more primal.

Anyone who lives with animals knows how finely tuned their instincts are,not just sensing any degree of unfriendliness or danger but also knowing
when someone is ill,sad or grieving and offering unobtrusive comfort.

In everyday language we talk not just about"following our nose" but also about"gut feelings" those mysterious moments when it seems your body knows more than your mind does.Whether related to your health, child rearing, choices at work, love affairs or a vast range of everday decisions,
you can easily discover how your body literally  relaxes and expands in the face of some inner urgings, and tense an contracts in the face of others.
Trusting this more instinctive way of preceiving takes courage. It certainly doen't mean setting analysis or good sense aside.

Sometimes you will be completely wrong. But there will also be times when you are right and,as with any other skill. this one rapidly improves with experiment and reflection.

Morgan & G-Ma 19-3-2008 004Morgan & G-Ma 19-3-2008 005Morgan & G-Ma 19-3-2008 007
A CARPET pythhon has been saved from a bumpy slide to certain death by GOLD COAST vets who removed FOUR GOLF BALLS from its intestines.Surprised
The 80 centimetre snake was found by a couple from NOBBYS CREEK in northem NSW, who had put the golf balls in their chicken coop to encourage
their broody hen to nest.Wink
But they deceived the hapless PYTHON-- which thought it had found a FREE LUNCH and GOBBLED the GOLF BALLS.Surprised

The couple put two and two together when they discovered their GOLF BALL WERE MISSING AND A LUMPY SNAKE NEARBY. Eye-rolling
The animal was taken to the GOLD COAST"S Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, where senior veterinarian Michael Pyne operated.Red heart
He said snake was making a speedy recoveryfrom surgery.Smile
"If it hadn't been found,it would have died for sure. Those golf balls weren't moving any further, they were stuck where they were".Tongue out

Dr Pyne said the python had been a highly unusual but very rewarding case. "it could have been a sad story but it's nice to fix them up, and we will RELEASE HIM OUT INTO THE WILD SOON".Red heartSun

Mercury rises for mad March

Feel like summer has passed you by? it has, technically speaking, degrees in Melbourne along side four more days of 30 degrees or more for the next week. Officially it's autumn but SOMEONE FORGOT to tell the weather.Tongue out
The weather bureau said we could expect dry conditions to continute through the beginning of autumn, but other states have seen TOO MUCH RAIN,Sick
NSW that have been swamped with torrential rain and floods in big areas.Sad

The March record for the longest strech of above 30 degree days stands at 11.set back in 1989. we had 39 degree just after 3pm yesterday.Sad
Discussing the weather used to be SMALL TALK but now it's more serious, there has always been an interest in the weather. But people are now more worried
about the future than they are about tomorrow's weather or next week's sporting fixture.Thinking

Keeping precious plots alive in the summer with the harsh water restrictuons for trying to save what I had left in my gardens,
the roses were JUST DOING OKAY in the  hot weather.Smile
The water restrictions: 6.00 am-8.00 am twice a week on the TUESDAY and SATURDAY we can water by hand hose in the garden. But the early in the morning 6.00am -7.00am STILL DARK then how we going to water in the dark? Confused Turn on the light? Disappointed  and people WHO ARE going to WORKING that how they could water in the their garden at the morning? Confused
An ESPECIALLY THE  SATURDAY MORNING is HARDEST ONE that WHO WOULD WANTED get up 6-00am in the morning.  Angry
Other thing is BUSH fIRE: SOFAR SO GOOD there is small one in the other states.  Thinking

The Summer Day light saving time will finished in the an end of this month. Wink
The water restrictions continuously until September the dams are getting fuller.Eye-rolling
A good things about Melbourne weather: DRY and Hot in the daytimes but at night after the sunsets became QUICKLYcooling down to comfortable night..Smile
And we find seldom hot nightWink  I prefer hot weather than cold weather(no restriction the water) a specially snows in the ground that I would rather like to seen only at CHRISTMAS TIMES.Tongue out
I HOPE THIS IS A LAST COMPLAINED ABOUT OUR WEATHERS .Wink
To my friends:I wished a bright spring weather coming to your way and enjoy work at the garden. Red rose

A Kinder attitude

A long list of worthy things you ought to be doing improving your mind as well as calming it,listening more appreciatively to your loved onece.
you're ready to offer help to a colleague who's struggling?
Or need just the smallest encouragment to cook dinner at home for friends who care much more about getting together than whatever you put on the table?.
Or spend a glorious day at home alone snacking on cheese and cherries with glass of wine?
Many of our wants and dreams are perfectly possible ,yet we so easily let them slip out of the kindness.

A kinder life will always be a happier one.
Kindness. A kinder attitude makes it so easy to see what you need to add to your life and what you can certainly risk letting go.
Kindness will always be most powerful when you take it up as a fundamental attitude rather than as series if individual acts: when you see it as cause and effect,
Then it's not a question of whether you can afford to be kind, but whether you can afford not to be.
How easily it's misunderstood that kindness is for the weak or needy even when the opposite is true.
It takes strength to be consistently kind and it develops strength.
Whether you're conscious of it or not,you have the ability to increase other people's joy and safty through acts of simple kindness to others.
