But I don't buy it. Winter is nasty. It bnothers the elderly and gives the young NASTY COLD. The RAIN!" wonderful rain that we needed badly but the leaves look miserable going soggy in the gutter and the dark dismal skies, grey flat light megrim weather. Even when there is sunshine it slants low, making everything look too late but I know that WE MUST NOT COMPLAINT IT. after all a shocking the dry weather that we have had in the last summer time.

    The swine flu

What should the comunity's response be to the strain of flu bearing the name of Pigs? How scared should we be?
Certainly, warnings this week from fedearal Health Minister Nicola Roxon that the virus had"taken hold" and Government was looking at new ways to contain it,
coupled with predications from Victoria's acting chief medial officer,Rosemary Lester, that it ultimately could infect one in five people--that is 4 million Australians---
    are sufficient reason for concern.

And, worryingly, the number of confirmed casesection continues to climb. As of late yesterday vic 874 cases of swine flu with a further 122 cases confirmed over night.
The virus will spread quickly. When this happens, which could be sooner than we expect, containment and the quarantining of an increasing become impractical and too disruptive to the community, especially if those being quarantined show no symptoms.

SIGAPORE has became the first country to advise its residents NOT TRAVEL TO VICTORIA.

Health authorities will then have to consider whether to abandon this approach in favour of a process that focuses on managing, rather than eradicating, the problem.
The response of the media to the swine flu situation could not be more counter--productive.The news papers started scaremongering.
Headlines such as "OUTBREAK" and rumours of starting a "swine toll" are irresponsible and are resulting in significant increases in attendances to emergency departments and GP.

As we head into the flu season, the chances of catching influenza--swine or otherwise--will inevitably increase. But NO REASON to PANIC.As Franklin D Roosevelt would have conselled: there is nothing to fear but fear itself. A deadly threat? Pigs might Fly away?.

Parents'insight to take over the blind school

Mr & Mrs Lachman and their daughter Francesca.

When Vision Australia made its controversial decision to close the only Victorian school for blind students,Alan Lachman swore his seven-years-old daughter Francesca would not be forced back into the main stream system.
Instead Mr Lachman and his wife,Maria Franca, decided to establish a private school for blind and vision-impaired students, saying the Government system could not cater for everyone.
"We put our Francesca into a mainstream schol and watched her go backwards." Mr lachman said."She struggled with the noise and number of students it doesn't work for everyone."

The new school, called the INSIGHT EDUCATION CENTRE for the Blind and Vision Impaired, will lease buildings on the grounds of Best chance in Glen Waverley,a charity that also hosts a primary school for childern with social and learning difficulties on the site.
Insight will eventually provide places for 48 full time primary students.up to 750 other students will be able to come to the school on a part-time basis to use its specialist facilities.

The school will have Braille laptops, mobility workshops run by the Guide Dogs Association and a big music facility,Mr Lachman said.
Students will pay an annual fee of about $1000 to attend full time and the school will seek federl and state funding.

Mr Lachman-who said he had a business background and established a training centre in Italy willbe the chief executiveofficer. Two principals will be appointed to run the primary and secondary schools.
The Lachmans and their three daughters, including Francesca, who is cingenitally blind, returned to Australia after 18 years in Italy so that Francesca had the choice of attending a specialist school.

Just month after she began at the Burwood Education Centre,it was announced that it would close."To say it was a shock would be a major understayement," her father said.
Insight will apply for registration in August and about 35 primary students are expected to be enrolled when it opens in 2010.

    The disaster weathers

The weather that everyone knows. every year the same And yet we still seem so astonished thats not so along ago.Wink
"Can you believe this weather?" Yes! I can. Anyone who has been here for more than a week knows about it,the weather change A lot. Frequently in Melbourne.Eye-rolling
How much affecte for ourlives? in the way that we are wishes for the wedding day,A holidays and so many otherway for a good weathers.Tongue out
There has always been an interest in the weather. But people are now more WORRIED about the FUTURE than they are about tomorrow's weather or next week's sporting fixture.Thinking

This year we had a bad natural disaster the bush fires (February) and dry weather for last three year (still is in Victoria). Some states (QLD)had their water restrictions was over because they had flooding.Sad Nth NSW had under water as well.Sad
There are many things in llife that genuinely warrant SURPRISE but not these way. And people where living on their tourism places.(over 25c degree) and the started season time for them to a lots of people visits there but not this year? Disappointed
With out these natural disaster still our future is an uncertain destination for the whole of the world. Wilted rose

These people who had lost theier home and theier familly that I sincerely hope for recovery quickly as possible. Red heart

    AN UNCERTAIN FUTURE.

NOT known for sleeping on the job, these sleepy Guide Dog puppies have a lot to learn before they can hit the streets.
A wonderful service the dogs provide to the blind people's.
Leanne daniels, pictured with faithful companion Dona,is facing an uncertain future.

VISION-IMPAIRED Leanne Daniels can tell night from day,but nothing else.It has been that way since her early 30s.
On Wendensday, she was sacked by her employer,Vision Australia. and told to leave the office and get into a taxi within 20 minutes.
Her role helping the blind and vision-impaired was he "passion",not just a job,and now she thinks she may never work again.

The sacking of Ms Daniels and 130 people at non-profit Vision Australia offices throughout the country, including 22 who are vision-impaired, has sparked clims of ruthless behaviour by an organisation that exists to help the blind.
Ms Daniels 51 said I was originally told stay until the end of the day."I'd been upstaires for only 15 or 20 minutes. I was paged to be told my taxi was waiting",
"They said, 'Your taxi is here and you have to leave now'."

Ms Daniels was devastated.she said:"I feel very betrayed and I also feel like I've done something wrong."
She has explained later a passion. Her work involved helping people use government services and deal with taxis and the like. she also made initial contact with clients and acted as an informal counsellor, dealing with the young and their families through to the elderly.

Vision Australia chief executive Gerard Menses denied that services would be affected or that the organisation had been heartless. He said there was"no good way to tell people that their job is gone". He also denied staff had been marched out of the offices on Wednesday and said some people had asked to be escorted.

When announcing the job cuts,Mr Menses blamed the financial crisis for a drop in income that slahed its budget by $13 million to $75 million.
The Australian Services Union said it was "appalled" at the way Vision Australia had treated staff.

I hope she 'll get some thought of help from the Governments. You can't left alone those prople' in our society.

    The Mother in new plea..

Shani Cassidy(above)                                                                                                                                 Shani's son Tyler: flowers at the shoothing:and, would a
                                                                                                                                                                    stun gun have saves Tyler?

Four months after police SHOT dead Tyler Cassidy.15. during a confrontation at a Northcote skate park, his mother has renewed a call for street police to use TASER STUN GUNS.Thinking Tyler would have been 16. 20 April. but instead of celebrating at home as the family had planned, Shani Cassidy spent another day mourning.Sad

"I'm certain that if Tasers were accessible to police he'd be here, not in grave." she said. "I know there's a chance there could be an injury, but Tasers provide an option to live. Another child does not have to die."

Mrs Cassidy is PLEASED that new police Commissioner Simon Overland has flagged the possibility of widespread use of the stun guns, now limited to the special Operation Group and he critical incident response team. But the review needs to be fast tracked an Tasers given to street offices as a priority, she says.

A coronial inquest into Tyler's shooting is still many months away, but Mrs Cassidy has become a passionate advocate for Tyler, who was armed with two stolen knives and was agitated during the confrontation on December 11. Tyler is believed to be the youngest person police have shot and killed in Australia.
    Why needed to be killed?Eye-rolling

Mrs Cassidy says the months since Tyler's death have been agonising for her and his older brother,Blake. She has been unable to resume full time work, although she has support from family, friend and church. Mrs Cassidy also wears the crucifix that her son had always worn around his neck."It has been"loke his second skin",she says and was given to Tyler by his father, Ian,who died from cancer in December 2004.Sad

She is writing a book about the family's experience under the working title Forever Young."It will be a mother's journey of losing a child and the process involved in getting to the end," she says. After negotiation with Darebin City Council,Mrs Cassidy has also commissioned and paid for a commemorative plaque, which willl be placed on a bench at the All Nations Park near where he was killed. It will read in part"Tyler Jordan Cassidy,15 years young ...Gone too soon."

Being mother myself I can feel just how sorry for her(Mrs Cassidy) I hope she have a lovely Mother,s day with Blake (Tyler's older brother).10th May.Red heartRed rose

    The Phone Tapping

This was so truth of our way of life in today, Phiddling with one's mobile phone is a national phixation.Tongue out
DAVE just reached into his pants, pulled it out,and started fidding with it.DAVE STARTED FIDDLING WITH IT,RIGHT THERE,UNDER THE TABLE,IN THE MIDDLE OF A PLESANT SUNDAY BBQ--doing in front of his wife and friends and even children. I said "Jeeez Dave, put it away, not here!" but he just kept going ,his eyes glazed over a dumb grin on his lips--he said"Aimost finished...almost done..OK" then he popped it back in his pants and went straight back to his lamb cutlets like nothing ever hapened.Surprised

I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT: I looked around the table to check if anyone had noticed, but nobody had---mostly because THEY WERE ALL TOO BUSY FIDDING UNDER THE TABLE TOO. Men,women, teenagers, all of them with the same glazed eyes, the same dumb grin, thumbing away on their mobile phones like a small orchestra of -armed thumb percussionists.Eye-rolling

People popping our their mobile phones and just playing with the thing for no reason at all THEY JUST CAN"T LEAVE IT ALONE.
You see them on street corners,on public transport a teenage talking to his friend and said where are you? I'm on the behind the carriage etc...Eye-rolling

MY OWN MOTHER DOES IT: she'll interrupt a conversation just to check her meassages, or adjust her display-photo,or change her ring-tone because she's sick of the Gummi Bears song and she wants Homer Simpson singing Spider-pig. It's a sinful,depraved,anti-social habit, and it can only lead to illness  and insanity.
Onec you 've started it's almost impossible to stopped.Wink

IT"S SICKO STUFF,and I'm glad I have no phone to phondle or phlash...Well I didn't ....until lats weekend. It was my birthday and I got some nice books, and a MOBILE PHONE.I got it from my mother. She said:"I KNOW YOU DONT LIKE THESE THINGS, but give it a try, you'll wonder how you ever managed without one!"
"But mum, I want to be uncontactable and anti-estableishment and tumourless!"  but she wasn't listening --she was too busy fidding with her own phone, trying to change her ring-tone to Get the $#!& Outta My House by 2 Live Crew.So the mobile phone sat on my desk in a little box and yesterday I thought,"Look, I'll just open it up,se what it's like, maybe just use it for EMERGENCIES and nothing else."
I got phone out of the box, popped in the battery, held it in my hand.It was smooth,silky...sensual.Then just quietly, alone in my room,I had a little fiddle:I spent 20 minutes trying to write my own name with predictive text.. Maybe I'll do it now and then. But not too much,I've heard it makes you go blind. Ha ha haWink
I thoughly enjoyed reading about his mum's addicted to her mobile phone. Smile  " Happy weekend everybody"Left hugRed heartRight hug

    The global recession.

Throughout the world, the gloval recession is getting DARKER, its reach more pervasive,as the toll of its victims mounts. in the all over the world.Sad
Hard times as work for teens disappers, more jobless people' are searching for work but there is almost none, because they are more desperate age range, they are not under contract and they don't have much work experience.Sad
It is also eerily similar to what is happening inother western countries, where unemployment is now galloping away.We just started a few months behind the rest.Eye-rolling

Ministers keep telling us that Australia is the best place to be in the crisis. But that's certainly not true if you're unemployed. The Government pays you a breadline wage of just $32 (Aust) a day, then only if you've virtually exhausted your savings. A FULL TIME STUDENT said pay rent there is not much room in my budget for luxuries such as textbooks and photocopying. After graduated the university students has no lucky with thier work  because THEY HAS NO EXPERIENCE" end up stayed with thier parents.Confused
The other way there will be a "missing generation" of young workers by 2013 unless more is done to keep them in TRAINING and apprenticeships, a youth employer has warned.Disappointed

A jump in the number of global asylum seekers will lead to more boats coming to Australia the third boat in a week carrying asylum seekers to Australia, and the fifth this year. We believe, and it's clear now,has sent a signal that Australia has become a SOFTER TOUCH,or a SOFT TOUCH,for illegal immigration, for people smuggling." People seeking asylum in Australia. Thinking

I have had lovely Easter holiday that I really do need to take those time, I think you do need to do that every now and then though I'm the kind of person who, if somethings great comes through,it like,"Oh wow, Yes I've always wanted to do that." Tongue out  Next time is 25th April The Anzac day.Tongue out

    Some common phrases...

Some common phrases are waste of oxygen. Here's the latest it-list.Wink
The following saying are hereby banned from popular usage on account of them being either too stupid, too obious or just too plain awful and useless:
You're not as young as you used to be. This phenomenon is due,no doubt,to that mysterious process scientists refer to as :getting older".

A barking dog never bites. Yuh.That's because it's too busy barking. You'll also notice how a bitting dog doesn't bark much.Tongue out
Let sleeping dogs lie.Of course you should Ever tried waking up a sleeping dog, especially a big one such as a German sheperd or a Great Dane?Thinking
Man,they get cranky. First they start barking, then they start biting--but never at the same time. At last: a ban on sayings that say nothing.Smile

It's all much of muchness. What the heck does "muchness" mean? It isn't a word anymore word dare use on its own.try it. You get looks.
A problem shared is s problem halved. There are still people out there who swallow this. But when has this ever happened in real life? The saying should be: "A problem shared is a problem squared". That more like it.

It was too much of a good thing. You can never have too much of a good thing that it starts giving you heart palpitations or blurred vision then- come on- it's not such a good thing any more.Wink

    Toothache

I wake up in the early hours of the morning and I can't get back to sleepTongue out  today is my blogs entrys day.Thinking
I don't have anything to say each day on my blogs but I can tell you what happened on the last Friday night that I was very happy at my friends home a having dinner togeather in the during time I felt in my front tooth was hurts a bitSurprised but I didn't take a noticed and just a bit sore at gum in the next morning.Sad
It seems to be always a problems happened to me in the weekend or during on the Easters times and last time was 2006 I had rebriges done at front of my tooth, and I can't afford to loose this tooth because supported the briges. Wink

Monday morning from golf course I made appointment with my dentist then I wented to see her 12.30pm she took an X-ray and check ups my teeth results from X-ray that nothing wrongs in my teeth, she say "you have an abcess on the gum" and normally took two weeks to get back to normal, I thank you to her and I was really happy that day and I told my friends to nothing wrong in my tooth BUT in the middle of night started painful toothache from gum plus swollen in my right side of the face with brown colours around my eyes.SurprisedSad

I waited for in the morning and I rung the dentist to tells what was happening, make short the story I had another X-ray and check the teeth & gum gain.Disappointed
"Are you feel cold this tooth"? I said yes, she rushed wented to the phone to Endodontics and next day "NO choice" needed to have Root Canal 1st treatments
next one is 21th of April, I had an expensive and painful treatment but I can tell the difference after tretments.Smile

Antibiotic: I had two differents of abtibiotics that one from other dentists which she gave the prescripition for antibiotic on the SECOND OF TIME VISITS.
After my treatments he say you can take two togeather three time in the day, when I got home I took them the pills.....after couple hours my head was dizziness and I didn't feel well,Sleepy  in the meantime one of my golf friend rung me to say how I,m doing? I told her about pills there answer was too much for me?
I rung him to explained about it, he said take one. Well! if I taken two pills all the times ..I wouldn't be stayed up would I ? Tongue out

I wasn't happy with my new dentistAngry  ( my old one is retired)he was a very good dentist over the 30 years. Sun
I would rather avoiding the new dentist that poorly treatment to me? Sick
Why she hasn't give me Antibiotics on the first visits?Confused  then I don't needed to Root Canal ttreatments?Tongue out
I have coverd on my insurance, but still you need to pay the differences. Am I wrongly in thinking this way to toward to the new dentist?Eye-rolling

    How a 'Wonder Drug'...

I knew myself that all drugs has side effect, But some of are worrying to me.  I read on the news papers the last week an article is just like minslol! Wink
I had just walked in the party, and spotted a familiar face."Oh,hi" I said brightly,"you're just the person I wanted to see: I had something to ask you."
There was a pause."Yes?"said my friend gently,I stood there in confusion.I couldn't remember her name. And the thing I wanted to ask her had slipped completely out of mind.Disappointed

That was a years ago,and it had been happening to me more and more often. At first I could shrug it off as an example of those senior moments we all have in late middle age.It started with the names of people and places:"Oh,you know, that man who wrote a book about depression. He used to live in that road just off primrose Hill.Beging with G."Eye-rolling

My doctor, when prescribing me tabelts of Simvastatin to be taken once a day, described it to me,rightly I'm sure, as a "wonder drug" that deserves to be taken by most of Western world. Beacuse the drug worked so well in reducing my cholesterol,it never occurred to me to think of it as a feature in my memory loss. But looking back to when began talking that 40-miligram dose,I realised that it more or less coincided with the intensification of my memory problems. So, I went to my GP,told him what was happening and asked for him advice. he nodded, and said"well take you off stains for three month.Let's see what happens." Thinking

For a six weeks or so, I noticed nothing. I continued to go around in a daze. Then my life began changeing back.At dinner parties, I could tell stories without losing track halfway through. Smile

Maybe scientists are right and the benefits of these drugs outweigh the side effects,However ,now that I've got some of my memory back,I'll remember to look for other, non drug ways of keeping down my cholesterol. Sun How a 'wonder drug' could steal your memory.Wink

I'm (Michiko) taken a cholesterol tabelts for a long times, If I stopped it then my brains works bright? Just thought ha ha ha Tongue out
We having a Autumn season it has, technically speaking, but forcast of 33 degrees in Melbourne. Surprised

    Survivors get best of care

Soothing: George the koala has his bandages changed at Morwell animal clinic.

Escapes from Black saturday Bushfires, those animals on the mend: Sue Scully with one of her charges, a kangaroo with burned feet and paws.

They are hungry and often in terrible pain, but the animals making it to clinics and shelters are the lucky ones.
Wildlife carer Sue Scully of Yarragon is tending about 15 injured kangaroos, wallabies, possums and wombats.

just feeding them is tough, with a lack of green grass."I spent the first two weeks crying as those we saw were so badly injured they died or had to be (put down)."
said MS Scully, of the Wildlife Rescue And Protection group. One of my Japanese friend is one of them and I proud of her very much.

RSPCA Victoria's bushfire appeal has raised $2.5 million, believed to be the most raised in an appeal in the animal welfare body's 138 year history.
And we are still raise money for the bushfire victims.

    GOOD BYE CRUEL SUMMER

SO,Good BYE summer.I won't miss your hot breath against my neck. I won't miss your fingers of smoke brushing my hair and face.I won't miss the fear you can deliver to a state, a town, a community and a family. It's antumn, Let the leaves change colour gracefully in the shortening days.
If they have not already fallen heat-fatigued to earth. If only shorten naturally.

Thank you to the State Government, daylight saving now takes over six month of the year. natural order of light and shade is not due to resume until the first week of April,to last until October when the cycle will begin again Enough's enough. Bring on the night.
After the past two months of Melbourne summer I can say, in the argot of the times. I'm so over it.
Summer in the city is not this year a paean for fun times. It is a lament.

This summer the north wind brought to Victoria only tears, which is as cruel a turn of fate as you can imagine. For tears have been the only drops to fall.
Of rain there has been none. But last three days we having a sweet raining, When pop singers warble,"It's raining in my heart",I truly know what they mean.Weather can have that effect.

I wrote back to said I'm fine thank you etc.Wink

The NET WORK and POST places that I don't NEED in my space then just the friends list is enough for me just like the old time.Eye-rolling
I have my friends an email address and a private message too, if I need to talk to in private.Smile
This one doesn't provide me with too many options and I strongly dislike the new format that window has installed that stupid changes they've made.Disappointed

Why I get angry about the messenger invitation? It said " add me as a messenger contact so we can chat online," when I have looking to thire space it mostly their network is empty and even it said "you can't send or reply to this person because of their communication preference settings.Sick

    In these trouble times.

In theses trouble times, let's reflect on what's really important. The global financial crisis is a welcome relief from listening to people bang on about what they usually consider the biggest crisis in their life.
Money is going to cost more. The euro's going to be the next US dollar. It's an overdue correction.
Oil is down a barrel. Forget trying to understand it. Ride the tiger and hang on but try to remember what's really important.

The people you love. We don't know what's going to happen. And we can't control it.But at least at the moment we know that we don't know what's going on.
The truth is that we never know what's going on,what's around the corner. We just think we do. At least now we know we're all corks bobbing in the water.
That we're all standing on floating floor that can be pulled out from under us at anytime. We just think it's solid. It's not.

Will we be overtaken by a suden wave of relief that we had enough? Enough money for what? And we 're all worried about money. No matter how rich or poor we are. For a single mum it may be worrying about having enough money to pay the car registration.  For a middle -class family it may be worrying about having enough money to pay the school fees.

Worry if you want. But it will do stuff- all.People are grippedby fear and driven by insecurity.
What can we do? Maybe not bite off more than we can chew. Bring back lay-bys. Bring back saving. Bring back going with out. Bring back fixing things. But while we're waiting, enjoy the moment.

Learn what's important. sounds trite. but during this rough stuff we can't just think. You might not be able to afford a holiday, but you can afford a picnic. Times may be tough, but we're still alive.

That's the really tricky bit.To more our focus away from the big scary things that probably won't happen and enjoy what we have, our friends. Our families and ourselves. Because these troubled times will pass. But our loved ones may not be there tomorrow.

    Parents Behaving Badly

It began on a hot morning after swltering night.Freeman had apparently taken all three of his children to a beach house overnight to escape Melbourne's heat. coming back to town, the trafific across the West Gate bridge was slow.
His got out of the car,He walked to the passenger door. His two son 6,and 2, were in the back. But Darcey (Four year-old) whom he leaned over and unbukles.

He allegedly lifted her up and carried her to the edge of the bridge near its highest point. Witnesses late told police the child seemed limp:she did not fight .she did not protest. Those who had to deal with what happened next have prayed that maybe she was unconsious,or thought it was a game:that she had no idea.

Freeman allegedly walked to the edge of the bridge, lifted his daughter over the railing-and let go.Darcy fell past the railings: past the line of cars: past the pylons.she hurtled 58 metres(190 feet) into the murky waters below.
Darcy was due to start primary school that morning, and he was supposed to be driving her there.

The rumor is that he was on his way back to the car to chuck his other two kids off the side when some witnesses ran up to him screaming and he got back in his car and drove off. (Comments from readers).

just after 9am Freeman's white Toyota Land Cruiser, driveing towards the city, slowed in the left lane.It stopped.
Freeman is 35. He works in IT and lives in Hawthorn.  He is estranged from his wife.

Darcey's Special day: A SURGE of support has emerged for an annual Children's Day to commemorate the tragic death of Darcey Freeman. 4th- Feb.
