The Aboriginal first reached Australia during the last Ice Age. sea leveles were low,and thery were able to cross from souutheast Asia over land bridges and

smal strctches of water.

When the ice melted and sea levels rose again, the continent was completely CUT OFF. More than 40.000 years ago.

They lived in total isolation from the REST OF THE WORLD, In the 18th century,the Europeans arrived,forcing the Aboriginals off their territories.

Today 450.000 amomg Australian's population of 21 million-- are the country's POOREST ETHNIC GROUP and are most lilly to be JAILED,UNEMPLOYED,

and illiterate. Their life expectancy is 17 years SHORTER than other Australians.

Between 1910 and 1970, some 100.000 mostly mixed-blood Aboriginal children were TAKEN from their parents UNDER LAWS that argued the race was doomed and that integrating the children was a humane altemative.

Tomorrow 13th Feb Australia's government formally apologize to the so called "STOLEN GENERATIONS" and detemined to help all Aborigines ACHIVE BETTER HEALTH, EDUCATION,and LIVING STANDADS.
